Unpopular opinion: VW Beetle is overrated

Starting this thread to document my 1966 Mustang fastback from raw shell to finished car. I bought it two years ago as a solid California car with surface rust but no structural damage. Since then I've stripped it to bare metal, addressed every rust pit, and now I'm ready to start blocking.

My goal is a driver-quality restoration, not concours. I want the car to look great but also be something I can take to a cruise night without having a panic attack.

Updates will come every few weeks. Happy to answer questions as I go — this community taught me most of what I know.
