ELI5: why does Greece work that way?

I've been into Ancient History for about 2 years now and wanted to share my thoughts.

Honestly it changed how I think about the whole hobby

I think the biggest misconception is that you need to be an expert to enjoy this. Just start with Rome and go from there.

Would love to hear what others think.
