The storage solution for Gloomhaven is a genuine design problem. The box is enormous, the component variety is extreme, and the default insert is inadequate for a game that will be opened and closed dozens of times over a campaign. The foam inserts that ship with the game compress with use and become useless within ten sessions.

Foamed Space, Broken Token, and Folded Space all make inserts for Gloomhaven. The Broken Token insert is my preference because it keeps monsters sorted by type in a way that makes scenario setup dramatically faster. The initial cost is substantial but the time savings compound across a campaign.

For Frosthaven, third-party inserts took time to arrive but are now available. Setup time with a good insert drops from 20 minutes to under five — a genuine quality-of-life improvement for a game you will set up fifty times.
