What's your unpopular board game opinion?

Castles of Mad King Ludwig is the best spatial puzzle game I know for groups that enjoy building something together. You are constructing a castle by purchasing and placing room tiles, creating connections between rooms for bonus scoring. The room types create different scoring engines. The master builder role rotation creates interesting pricing decisions.

The Secrets expansion adds an underground dungeon layer that doubles the spatial challenge. The Brettspiel Adventskalender version adds a winter theme with new room types. Both are worth adding if you love the base game.

For groups looking for a spatial puzzle that is somewhat lighter than Patchwork but more thematic, Castles of Mad King Ludwig hits a specific sweet spot. The castle you build at the end looks genuinely impressive on the table.
