Brass Birmingham solo mode added — your thoughts?
Arkham Horror: The Card Game is the best living card game design I have encountered. The campaign structure creates narrative continuity. The player deck customization is deep enough to reward study without requiring net-deck research. The scenarios are genuinely creative and occasionally terrifying in the narrative sense.
The entry cost is substantial — the core set is necessary, then cycles are long and expensive to complete. Fantasy Flight's replacement of the big box model with a smaller scenario and campaign model has improved accessibility significantly. The investigator starter decks are the correct entry point for new players.
For groups that like the investigator horror theme and want something with campaign depth, this is the best product in the genre. For casual groups who want a one-shot experience, the standalone scenarios provide that without committing to the full LCG ecosystem.
