I see a lot of discussion about points vs flight deal and I think people are overthinking it. Here's my take:

backpacking is great for beginners because it's more forgiving. rail pass gives you more control but has a steeper learning curve.

At the end of the day, use what works for you. The best flight deal is the one you'll actually use.
