The definitive Porsche 911 tier list
Classic car shows reward preparation, but the preparation that matters most is the preparation that nobody sees.
The visible preparation: clean paint, polished chrome, correct tire sidewall, clean engine bay, vacuumed interior. These are necessary but not sufficient for a competitive show entry.
The invisible preparation: correct panel gaps, correct body alignment, correct operation of all mechanical systems (windows, door locks, hood latch), correct rubber seals and weatherstripping seated properly. Judges at a serious show operate every mechanism on the car. A stiff window or a hood that doesn't close flush is a deduction.
The deepest preparation: the date codes and data plate match. The option content is consistent with the build sheet. The finishes are correct for the specific year and model, not just approximately correct. This is where serious show cars are won and lost.
