Why I switched from Porsche 911 to Corvette

My experience with a tube chassis restomod project, because this type of build gets less attention than body-off frame restores and deserves more.

A tube chassis build starts with a purpose-built chrome-moly steel frame sized and configured to accept the body you want to use. The suspension geometry is engineered for the application rather than adapted from original specs. The result is a car that handles like a modern sports car and looks like a vintage classic.

The trade-offs are real: the car is no longer a restoration by any definition. It's a custom build using a period body style. The purists won't recognize it at concours events. But the driving experience it enables is genuinely exceptional, and the safety margins built into a properly designed tube chassis exceed anything the factory ever produced.
