My experience with the difficulty of finding correct sheet metal for a first-generation Chevelle restoration: the parts situation has improved dramatically in the last decade but important gaps remain.

Floor pans, trunk floors, and wheel houses are well-served by the aftermarket. The quality of these parts has improved to the point where most suppliers produce pieces that require minimal fitting.

The problematic areas: quarter panels and doors. Quarter panels for the 1964-1965 Chevelle are genuinely scarce in high quality reproduction. The panels that exist are often produced for fit rather than accuracy — the contours are close but not exact. For a concours build, original sheet metal in restorable condition is preferable to even the best reproductions.

Door skins are similarly constrained. Know the parts availability before you price a project.
