Camaro vs 240Z: which do you prefer?
The 1966 Shelby GT350 is a better driver's car than the 1965 model in almost every way the factory addressed. The 1965 had the side exit exhaust, the four-speed, and the competition preparation. The 1966 added the fold-down rear seat that made the car more practical, and the Paxton supercharger option that took it to a different performance level.
The genuine cars are identified by their Shelby serial number on the dash plate, the engine with the Shelby-modified valve train, and the Shelby-specific chassis modifications. The number of continuation cars, tributes, and outright fakes exceeds the number of originals. Expert inspection is not optional for a serious purchase.
