My experience with 3D after a few weeks

News Meta

My experience building a following on ArtStation over two years of consistent posting.

ArtStation is a professional portfolio platform that functions as a social network. The audience is industry professionals, not general art consumers. This shapes everything about what gets traction.

High-performing content on ArtStation: production-quality work, finished game/film/animation-adjacent art, concept art with visible process. Work that communicates professional competence performs better than work that communicates personal expression.

Low-performing content: fan art (generally), personal sketchbook content, experimental work without context.

The social component is real but quieter than Instagram. Follows and likes come from people who might hire you or refer you. This is different from consumer social media follower relationships.

If your goal is commercial concept art work: ArtStation is the essential platform and the time investment is justified. If your goal is general audience engagement: Instagram or Twitter serve that goal better.
