I've had this film recommended to me four times and this post is the one that finally made me watch it.
Board Game Arena saved my gaming group during the pandemic. We've played Wingspan there more times than in person.
7 Wonders original remains excellent at higher player counts specifically because of the simultaneity. No one waits.
The scene you're describing is the one I always skip to when I'm showing the film to people.
Wingspan at two with draft variant creates a genuinely excellent two-player game experience.
Root's printing rulebook includes lore vignettes that most players skip entirely. Read them. They add a lot.
The technical achievement is real but I want to defend the emotional achievement which gets less discussion.

The comparison to the classical Hollywood version of this story makes the deviation clearer and more interesting.

BGG collection stats are addictive once you start using BG Stats. My average game weight has gone up 0.3 per year for five years.
My favorite thing about Terraforming Mars is that losing can feel satisfying when your engine was interesting.
Heavy euros taught me that losing can be interesting. Understanding why you lost and how to do better is half the replay value.
Dune Part One and Part Two together are the best SF adaptation ever made. I'm ready for disagreement.
