Posterior chain work in a bodyweight routine: bridges, GHR, and more

My Experience With the Recommended Routine for Six Months

I ran the Reddit Recommended Routine for six months without modification and want to give an honest assessment for anyone considering it.

What I liked: the structure is clear and requires no programming knowledge. The progression schemes are sensible — move to the next variation when you hit the top rep target. The skill work is integrated rather than an afterthought. The volume is appropriate for beginners without being overwhelming.

What I found limiting: the routine doesn't program enough pulling volume relative to pushing for my shoulders. I added band pull-aparts daily and extra scapular work. The leg work is also lighter than I wanted — I added pistol squat practice as a standalone skill.

Results after six months: 10 pull-ups, 5 dips, 12-second tuck L-sit, 15-second wall handstand, 10 pike push-ups. Starting from zero, these are solid results. The routine works if you run it consistently.

I'd recommend it without hesitation to any complete beginner. The temptation to jump to something more 'advanced' is usually misplaced for the first 6-12 months.
