I've been comparing Procreate and Clip Studio Paint for about a year now, and I think the answer genuinely depends on what you're making. Procreate wins on feel and speed — the brush engine is silky, gestures are intuitive, and it gets out of your way. If you're doing standalone illustrations, portraits, or painterly work, it's hard to beat.

Clip Studio Paint is a different beast. The panel layout tools, perspective rulers, and 3D model library make it genuinely superior for comics, manga, and anything with a lot of technical drawing. The brush stabilizer is also more configurable if you do a lot of clean linework.

If I had to pick one for a beginner: Procreate on iPad. If you're making comics or anything sequential: Clip Studio Paint, no contest. The good news is they're not mutually exclusive — I keep both subscriptions active because they serve different parts of my workflow.
